RIse and Build

It was necessary that David be a man of war so that the land would be subdued before Israel. For more that 400 years they had lived in Canaan without the land being subdued. Now that the land was subdued Solomon, a man of peace could build the temple to replace the tabernacle.
The returned exiles could be encouraged from this of their need to rise and re-build the temple. And we, who since the ministry of Christ are the temple of God, must continue to build the church by the grace of Christ who will not let the gates of hell prevail against her.
