The Heart of the Matter

Most people could not properly answer the question: "what is spiritual defilement?" Few would answer that that problem is sin, and the estrangement between the sinner and God due to sin. False religions tend toward either legalism or antinomianism as the answer to spiritual defilement. Jesus taught that the heart (the mind and affections) is the issue at the center of sin, not ceremonial defilement.
