The Corinthians tended to accept at face value any message that claimed to be of God. Paul gave them two tests to determine if a message was truly from God.
1-The negative test: emotions
2-The positive test: Jesus is Lord
--Beware of any message that exalts self
rather than Christ.
--Beware of any message that is built on
new revelation.
--Beware of any message that contradicts
the teaching of Scripture.
