It is sometimes difficult for Christians to understand the times in which they live, when they do not know where they stand in history. Church history is so much more than the last fifteen years in some local body. The writings of the church fathers contain a treasure of insight and wisdom that we ill afford to ignore. For many they are the antidote to the modern confusion in theology, and the sign posts that help keep the church from heresy.
