C. The Justification for God's Indignation (Psalm 12:5)

  1. The man threatened
    a. The oppression of the poor
    b. The sighing of the needy
  2. The promise given
    a. Now will I arise, saith the LORD.
  3. I will set him (the poor and needy) in safety from him (the oppressor) that puffeth at him (the poor and needy).

IV. THE ASSURANCE OF GOD'S HELP (Psalm 12:6-8)

A. In comparison to these lying, false and vain words, we have the Certainty of God's Word (Psalm 12:6-7)

  1. The purity of God's WORDS (Psalm 12:6)
    a. The statement of their purity—"The words of the LORD ARE pure words."
    Pure: "Free from moral defilement; without spot; not sullied or tarnished; incorrupt; undebased by moral turpitude; holy."
    b. God's words does not say that the words WERE pure in the original writings.
    c. The likeness of their purity—"as silver tried in a furnace of EARTH, purified seven times"
    • Nebuchadnezzar heated the furnace seven times hotter to kill God's servants and it eliminated the impure, not the pure.
