The Lord Jesus Christ
Series Epistle of Jude
The three words "Lord Jesus Christ" are interconnected and essentials to understanding "the faith" for which all believers are to "contend." Understanding these three words are also connected to understanding the Gospel and what defines saving faith of the "common salvation." The point here is the question: can we "contend for the faith" that defines the saving faith of the "common salvation" if we allow the theological meaning of the words "the Lord Jesus Christ" to be reduced or emptied?
The fact is that the twenty-first century has very few professing Christians who understand the theological meaning, and therefore the theological significance, of the words "the Lord Jesus Christ." For most part, the theological meaning of the words "the Lord Jesus Christ" was lost over a hundred and fifty years ago to most people within Liberal Christianity. Therefore, contending "for the faith" that defines the saving faith of the "common salvation" must now be done mainly within what still calls itself Christianity but is without any understanding of the terms that makeup true Christianity. Contending "for the faith" that defines the saving faith of the "common salvation" must once again fill these words with their God-intended meaning to restore the theological significance within the terms "the Lord Jesus Christ."
