Muting the Truth — What Happens?

Just a little thought for the day... think about it, we (you) usually turn the volume down on the those songs we're losing interest in... and if we've gotten tired of a song we'll just skip it or remove it from the play list all together. But when a tune comes on that ignites our heart, we turn it up.

C'mon, you feel me? I think you can relate. We do the same thing with almost everything... we "turn down the volume" on the things of life that we've lost interest in... and we "turn up the volume" on the things that feed of soul and fuel our spirit.

Proverbs warns us of the dangers of "skipping" or "turning down the volume," as it applies to, "listening to God and His instructions for life." What's the warning? It's inevitable and unavoidable... once anyone loses interest and tunes out God's word, His ways and His irreplaceable wisdom they are going to "stray from the words of knowledge and depart from the way of understanding and be at peace and comfortable among those who lack any of God's wisdom and insight" (Proverbs 19:27 ; 21:16).

C'mon... it's not that we don't have a good grip on life, most of us do. What then is our problem? Our problem is this. We don't have a good grip on heaven, and it's eternal purpose for us, in this life. For some of us...
