Refined and Purified by God

What does it take for us to find our deepest joy in God and in His awesome works? What does it take to make His praise glorious in our hearts and in our mouths? The psalmist shows us the painful length God goes to bring us to the place where we have new eyes and new ears for the love and power of God.
Just as gold or silver is purified in a furnace, so God often turns the heat up in order to purify our faith. Trials become the means that God uses to burn up that which is false so that only what is genuine remains. Under God’s hand and watchful eye there is no suffering or pain that He cannot use to bring us more fully into the joy of His glory and into a true place of abundance.
