Sermon Outline:

Introduction

• The Call to Repentance begins with Calling Sin, Sin, as Defined by God in His Word

The Ransom of God Applied – Three Aspects (vs. 1-8):

  1. The Call to Repentance (vs. 1; 2 Chronicles 30:6-9)
    • The People stumbled over the Call (Hosea 12:8)

  2. What True Repentance Looks Like (vs. 2-3; )
    • “Take Away all Iniquity; Receive Us Graciously” (v. 2a; Ephesians 1:6b-7; Isaiah 53:5-6, 12b; 1 Peter 1:10-12)
    • An About Face Regarding In Whom The Repentant Sinner Puts His Trust and Confidence (v. 3, 2b)
    o Offers Sacrifices of His Lips (v. 2b)
    o Has A Heartfelt desire to walk in God’s ways for (v. 3)

  3. Restoration Flowing from Reconciliation (v. 4-8)

• God Heals those who are Reconciled to Him from Backsliding (v. 4a; John 3:14; Exodus 21:5-9)
• God Lovingly Cares for Them Freely (v. 4b; Hosea 13:5)
• Revives Them and Gives them New Life (v. 6-7; Titus 3:5-6; 2 Corinthians 2:15-16)
• Flow from being Reconciled and Restored by the Lord, the Repentant Sinner will say, “What Have I to do Anymore with Idols?” (v. 8)

Conclusion/Application (v. 9)

• Are You Wise and Prudent?
• Let us, as Those Who have been Graciously Received by the Lord, and Given Wisdom & Understanding, Walk in the Ways of Lord by Faith in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior
