Asceticism

Pastor Tim Goad, after covering previously, the 2 main heresies being practiced in and among the Colossian church, expounds on another practice in self abasement, stemming from inward pride, that of Asceticism. The practice of beating the physical flesh into submission in a means as to gain grace and deal with sin, shows in its depths how inwardly sinful it is as it seeks to show the outside watching world, "Look at me, how righteous I can be in my self abasement and denying myself of the "world" and it's trappings." All the while being centered in the elementary principles of child-like thinking.
