Loving Those Who are Lost: Evangelism

49 ( 46 | 3 )

As we have gone through Romans 12 we have seen that:

  1. The love of God for us comes first. Rom. 12:1a
  2. Then our love for God. Rom. 12:1b-2
  3. Then our love for each other. Rom. 12:3-16

Two weeks ago we considered our duty to love our enemies (Romans 12:17-21). This week we will jump back to Romans 10 to learn how we should love the lost by bringing them the gospel. This is appropriate because many of us will be involved in the Escondido Street Faire on Sunday.

Romans 10:15 states “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!” Many of us (and I would include myself) feel a bit insecure about the appearance of our feet.

Some of us have a hard time sharing our faith. Why is evangelism so hard for some of us? It may be because we don't care enough about the lost. Some of us may be unsure of what to say, or we feel that we aren't gifted in evangelism. Many of us are reluctant to evangelize because we are afraid to look like fools in the eyes of our family and friends, or we may fear consequences at school or at work. We all may have been tempted to be discouraged by a lack of fruit in our efforts to reach family members and friends in recent years.

Paul answers these concerns in Romans 10 by helping us to revive our concern for the lost, reminding us of the simplicity of the gospel, and declaring the means God uses to save the lost. My prayer is that we will all be encouraged to go and to send, not just this week at the Street Faire, but daily until the Lord returns.
