As a lawyer reads the last will and testament of an heir, so God reveals your inheritance in the Scripture. Instead of looking for an inheritance in this life, rather look for it in the life to come. Chide yourself for thinking that you should be full now and like Esau selling your birthright for a bowl of soup!
Rather meditate upon your future inheritance:
- A heavenly home
- A heaveanly banquet
- Ruling and Reigning with Christ
- Likeness to Christ
- God Himself
The practical effect of which is that you will become content with your lot in life, you will bear your cross with joy, and even esteem the reproach of Christ better than the best things of earth.
