The Church in the British Isles

137 ( 107 | 30 )

The church in the British Isles is a story of two evangelistic periods. Established in the latter part of the first century, but in the fourth century the Celtic people are pushed out by the Anglo-Saxons who were pagans. Then the Pope sends a missionary group to England in the late sixth century. The three major church leaders during this time were Augustine of Canterbury, St. Patrick, and St. Columba.

Another prevalent aspect of the church in the British Isles is that of monastic life and monasteries. Gene shares some of the implications and details of monastic life and influence.

Finally, Gene gives an introduction to the state of the world at the beginning and during the early parts of the middle ages.
