Big Picture Thinking

52

Much of today’s selfish doctrine is based on small picture thinking. “if I do a few things right God will bless me”. God is looking at the big picture of your life.
Every act of obedience does not bring a direct, related, reward, but God does bless obedience.
I believe that the enemy’s favorite game is getting people to focus on the small picture. (look at the deceptiveness of drugs, it starts out you only need a little to get high, then you need more and more, by the time you realize they are destroying your life they own you.)
That’s the obvious. Selfish ambition is the same way. Greed is the same way. Lust is the same way. Lies are the same way (they build on each other). Ungodly relationships are the same way. Dating someone who is not a Christian, flirting with someone, Letting your relationship with the Lord grow cold is the same way. It starts out small and gets a hold of you.
All of these things can feel real good in the moment. Where does this road lead?
“But didn’t God tell us to live in the moment?”
No, He said to focus on one day at a time., and keep the big picture in focus. What you do in each of those “days” matters in light of the big picture.
What you do or don’t do today builds a foundation for tomorrow. Good or bad.
Remember why you are doing what you are doing.
What you do in private, what you do in public, it’s all part of the big picture.
Have you ever done anything because……(put up slide)

Aaron thought it seemed like a good idea at the time.
Annanias and Saphira thought it seemed like a…..
