Representing Christ
Series Harmony of the Gospels
In Jesus' “absence” others would stand as representatives of Him. Certainly this is Jesus' overarching plan with His disciples – that they would become His representatives on earth. He is grooming them for ministry, especially following His quickly approaching departure. But in the account before us, things don't go well without Jesus' immediate bodily presence, but He will arrive at just the right moment and bring the help that is needed, and offer correction at the end of the account. My hope is that we learn from this situation, knowing that all we who are Christians stand as representatives of Him. Do we treat this “position/task” with the solemnity it demands? Are we purposeful in our thinking, talking, and acting to live as genuine, compassionate, truthful, faithful ambassadors for Christ?
Here's two responsibilities incumbent upon all representatives of Christ:
- To represent Christ you must epitomize discipleship!
- To represent Christ you must embody faith!
