In bold letters, in an introduction before the story begins, is a claim: 'All descriptions of artwork, architecture, documents, and secret rituals in this novel are accurate.' What follows is an intriguing fictional story constructed around what the author has asserted is undeniable fact.

One of these 'undeniable facts' is that the Bible is a collection of myths full or contradictions, crafted to solidify political power for the Church.

But does this novel reveal secrets long hidden, or perpetuate theories that have long ago been debunked? After centuries of debate, questions still abound about the Bible, its accuracy and authority; about who Jesus was; about the inner workings of the church.
