A Lawyer, a Samaritan, and Jesus, pt. 2

The prideful lawyer sought to trap Jesus in his words but found himself quickly seeking to evade the requirements of the law he confidently confessed. Jesus firmly counters his antagonistic questioning with truth delivered through a sobering parable. The lawyer hasn't kept the law and therefore it cannot be the way to life for him, or us. Rather, receiving the mercy and grace of Jesus is alone the way to life. But for those who know and follow Jesus, the law that isn't the way to life becomes the way of life. As those desiring to please our faithful savior, let's liberally embody the very neighborly love he has shown to us!
