God did not sent the Spirit into the heart of His people to make them sons, but because they were already sons by adoption in eternity God regenerated them by the Holy Spirit. A. Since we are changed by the Holy Spirit in regeneration and kept by the Spirit in the doctrine and knowledge of the justifying righteousness of Jesus Christ by faith, we are to put our trust and assurance in that and not in any works performed by us.
