Opposition to Rebuilding

First, in vv 1-3 - Nehemiah's rebuilding efforts were vigorously opposed and ridiculed by the Jews' enemies.

Second, in vv 4-6 - Nehemiah's responses to his opponents.

Third, in vv 7-8 - Nehemiah's opposition intensified as his rebuilding efforts became more successful.

Fourth, in v 9 - Together with Nehemiah, the Jews responded to their enemies with prayer and watchfulness.
