When God Doesn't Like You

When God Doesn't Like You

God sees through our meager attempts to cover up our disobedience with a sacrifice.

A sacrifice aimed to cover up disobedience is nothing more than a bribe...

It's always better to obey the Lord than to attempt to cover up your disobedience with a sacrifice.

Think with me about king Saul...

Saul governed without being governed.

He did not cultivate nor protect the connection with God.

God is saying we can't build, boast or bring ANYTHING, even our PRAYERS are unacceptable, when we, ourselves, are not right with Him. CAIN and ABEL are a great picture of this. God would not accept what Cain offered because He did not accept Cain. No matter what Cain would offering in that unacceptable condition would amount to anything. Abel, on the other hand, was acceptable... the condition of their hearts was the greatest factor and difference in how God received or rejected them and their offerings (Genesis 4).

I'm thanking Jesus this morning for making it possible for us to be made acceptable, and for gracing us with the means necessary to embrace and experience our desperate need of Him. He's the only acceptable offering because He's the one and only offering God made for Himself. And when He, by grace and through faith, makes us a new creature in Christ, we are made right and righteous before God, through the life, blood and death of Jesus.

Remember this... we trust and believe Jesus NOT accept Jesus. It's NOT that WE accept Him... God HAS accepted Jesus, we simply trust Jesus and believe that God completely and fully accepted Him and everything He did on our behalf when God made Him an offering for Himself and a substitute for us. We welcome this
