Defining the Terms (1)

89

There are basically seven words that are used to express the meaning of forgiveness. Three of them are Hebrew words and the other four are Greek words. This message discusses the three Hebrew words. Two of these words carry the idea of 'to lift up; to bear, carry; to take away' and the third word has the idea of 'to cover.' Truly when forgiveness is established between man and God or between man and man, the burden of the sin by the offending party, as well as by the offended party, is lifted from the soul and taken away so that it is hidden (covered) from both parties and peace is restored. This applies with our forgiveness from God and with each other.
