Our Entrance (as Gentile Believers) into the History of Redemption Pt 3

253 ( 194 | 59 )

Scripture: Acts 10:34-48 Text: same
Sermon: OUR ENTRANCE INTO REDEMPTIVE HISTORY: PART 3
Points: I. The Content of Peter's Message
II. The Demonstration of the Holy Spirit
III. The Reception of the Gentile Believers

Acts 10 is perhaps one of the most important chapters for most believers today. Why would I say that? Well, principally because most believers today are not from Jewish lineage, but Gentile.

Gentile converts were not received into the Christian Church until the events of Acts 10 take place. Before this, for Gentiles to become part of God's people they would have had to convert to Judaism and either submitted to the rite of circumcision or just remained a God-fearer.

Well, in Acts 10, the Holy Spirit makes clear that race, being Jewish or Gentile, was no longer the defining difference between the human.

In this third study of Acts 10, we will see that the Holy Spirit opens the door to Cornelius and his household and thus to Gentile believers. The event is of huge significance. It opens the door
converts from every nation, tribe and people. This reality becomes the reason for worship in Revelation 5:9-10. "You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; for You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and have made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the earth."

If you've not realized or thought about these things, you're going to enjoy this series of messages.
