Samuel: Lent to the Lord
26
They weren’t the best of times. “In those days there was no king in Israel. Everyone did what was right in his own eyes” (Judges 17:6). When we come to the book of 1 Samuel, that period is described in this way; “The word of the Lord was rare in those days; there was no frequent vision.” (1 Samuel 3:1). The priests were immoral and corrupt. More than ever, Israel needed a faithful prophet. God used a godly woman who had been barren to raise up Samuel. She prayed saying, “O Lord…give to your servant a son, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life” (1 Samuel 1:11).
