Here we see the indictment against the Jewish leadership for rejecting Jesus as their Messiah. The fact of history is that Jesus came to His people (Israel) as their Messiah, and they rejected Him; therefore, God's only choice was to bring judgment upon them. Matthew 23 and 24 are the indictment and judgment against the nation of Israel.
