Isaac: Circumcised to Shed Blood

Shedding blood by circumcision passed from Abraham to Isaac. It was far beyond a mere religious rite. It foreshadowed the shedding of blood by Christ as an eight-day hold infant under the law. Then, that act foretold of the shedding of His life's blood on the cross. By His obedience unto death, Christ earned righteousness, which God imputed to His elect for their forgiveness, redemption and justification.
