605 BC – first captives go to Babylon, including Daniel
587 BC – destruction of Jerusalem, only a few poor left
538 BC – Cyrus issues a decree to sent exiles back and
rebuild the temple;
537 BC – altar is rebuild, foundation of temple laid, but
the rebuilding is stopped
520 BC – under Haggai and Zechariah there is a call to
renew the re-building of the temple
516 BC – the temple is completed and rededicated
483 BC – Vashti deposed as queen, Esther replaces her
458 BC – Ezra sent to Judah
446 BC—Nehemiah hears the report
