Set Free for Freedom
This Sunday we resume our studies through Galatians. As we look at Galatians 5:1-12 we will hear that it is Christ who has set us free.
Free from what? From death, from the wrath of God, from guilt, from the condemnation of the law and much more. As well as being freed from all this we are set free to freedom, to sonship, to a cleansed conscience, to love and to obedience. In this freedom we must stand firm and not be persuaded to go back to the old order of things. We must not let ourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery - by seeking to justify ourselves by works of the law. For those who go down this path, Paul warns, 'Christ will be of no value' and they will be 'alienated from Christ'. Instead we must stand firm and continue to live in faith, hope and love.
