Confidence as Children of the Father

Confident Before God [2:28, 29]
Children of God [3:1-3]
John is saying two main things:
(1) ‘Let me help you better understand the true nature of God’s love for us.’

• a Fatherly love
• an adoptive love
• this love is a gift
  (2) ‘Let me help you better understand the true nature of the world’s misunderstanding of us which leads to their opposition and hatred.’
• we are His children now but remain a work in progress
• we will ultimately be conformed to the image of Christ and be immortal
