I. The Message (v. 5):

A. God is Light (Psalm 36:9)

· Manifested in the Flesh Jesus Christ (John 8:12)
· Exposes Sin (John 3:19-20)

B. There is No Darkness In God at All

· Cannot Lie (Numbers 23:19; Titus 1:2; Hebrews 6:18)

II. The Implications of the Message (vs. 6-10)

A. Those Who Do Not Have Fellowship with God (vs. 6, 8, 10)

· Walk in Darkness (vs. 6; Amos 3:3; Psalm 5:4; John 3:19-20)
· Deny that being a Sinner – Self-Deceived (v. 8; Prov. 16:14; 2 Peter 2:13)
· Deny Sinning – Calls God a Liar (v. 10; Romans 3:9ff, 23)

B. Those who Have Fellowship with God (vs. 7, 9)

· Walk in the Light as God is in the Light (v. 7)
· Confess their Sin – Forgiven of their Sin & Cleansed from all Unrighteousness
