The Great Cost of God's Love

We have spoken of the poor helpless woman who had to stand by as evil people came into her home and stole away her beloved pets. She wanted to defend the little ones whom she loved, but she had no power to do so.

Our God never fails to defend His loved ones! He has all power, knowledge, and the will to protect us, and He never fails. Nobody can take us away from Christ, and He never forsakes us.

But what accounts for love, and what is its price? Mothers and fathers love their children, and no doubt this is a part of God's good creation, though it has been marred by sin and the fall.

The price of love is often danger and even death. Ms. Susie did all she could as a woman to protect her beloved kitty cats. She stood in the doorway, refusing to move, even when threatened with arrest and jail. In the end, an armed man overcame her, removed her, and wicked persons had their way with her animals.

People scoff at her love for her cats. After all, what value do they have, when you can replace kitty cats for free?

But think of God's love for us: we were fallen and rebellious, worth little to nothing, yet He loved us! His love is unbreakable and inflexible against all accusations against us. Why does He love us so?

Love is impossible to show when it costs a person nothing. How then can God, with all power, show us His Love for us?

The Scriptures answer this conundrum: God's Love is shown in His sacrifice of the Lord Jesus for our redemption!

So His love is infinite, because the price of His love is immeasurable: the precious blood of the Savior!

Jesus knew the great cost of God's Love for sinners, when He said God gave His Son that we might be saved!
