The Voice of Composer Homer Rodeheaver

4,164

Far too often we forget the wonderful ways that God worked in the mighty revivals of old. We also forget the testimony of the men that God used. Mighty men. Men who prayed and preached under the power of the Holy Ghost. Through electronic means, some of these voices have been preserved so we can remember voices from the past.

Like D. L. Moody and other evangelists, Billy Sunday also had a musical assistant; his name was Homer Alvan Rodeheaver. Homer Rodeheaver spent 22 years as Billy Sunday's songleader and choir director. After Mr. Sunday's death in 1935, Mr. Rodeheaver went on to become music director at Bob Jones College in Cleveland, Tennessee. He was an excellent trombonist and he had an inspiring singing voice.
