It Is the Lord's Battle

This first portion of the book raises the issue of leadership among the tribes and the failures of Israel when there was no united, godly leadership. The successes and failures of the various tribes are recounted (1:3-36), along with God's judgment on Israel for covenant failure in letting the Canaanites live in the land. Chapter 2:1-5 summarize Judges' introduction (1:1-36).
