God's Message and God's Means - Part 1

Having established in verses 1-4 that righteousness comes through faith and not the law, the apostle Paul now addresses the message and the means through which God invites the unrighteous to receive the gift of righteousness. The message that God employs is the gospel; the good news is that Christ is the righteousness that we need, and he can be appropriated by faith. The means that God employs to offer this righteousness to sinners is the preaching of the gospel. Where the truth of the gospel is faithfully preached, God is extending to us, through faith in Jesus Christ, imputed righteousness that guarantees our full acceptance with God the Father.
