Spiritual Depression Part 2

General Considerations

We could generally and broadly break people up into 2 groups.

The Extrovert and the Introvert

We need to understand our enemy. One of our main enemies is within us. We need to understand the flesh and how it abuses how God made us

Some of the greatest Christians have been introverts but for sure introverts struggle more with depression. Why?

How does the extrovert think? Is he better?

The extrovert tends to be more superficial both are bad, just different.

The person acting introverted analyzes everything they do, they worry about the possible effects of their actions, and usually have all kinds of VAIN regrets

This makes a person morbid on the inside

The introvert confuses INTROSPECTION with SELF-EXAMINATION

Should we examine ourselves? Thoughts?

Do you find your self trapped by this? You live a life that is trapped by a continual grueling dissecting of yourself to the point that maybe you even nullify the grace of God in your own mind?

Underneath it all our physical and emotional struggles are stirred up by the devil.

1 Peter 5:8 (NASB95) — 8 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour

What is the ultimate cause of Spiritual Depression? Thoughts?

Its unbelief

In verse 11 of Psalm 42 the Psalmist reminds himself “...Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him...” Why?

When you feel depression coming on, when you wake up talk to yourself about the Word of God; about who God is, and what He has done for you. That is what is happening in v. 11
