John 15:1-16

1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. All fruit is pruned upon ripening so more fruit can grow. Jesus is the vine, and the Father is the gardener.
3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. You all haven't been pruned yet, but you've been cleaned through the word I have told you.
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. The whole chapter 15 premise is “Abiding In Christ”. It means putting Him first, listening to Him and not yourself, staying close to Him. No one can grow spiritually without Christ. Judas wanted to use Jesus as a political figure who would kick out the Romans and make the 12 disciples rulers of the new Israel. That was not Jesus' program.
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. Notice Jesus says it again – if you don't do it My way, it will fail; it will be fruitless.
6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. This brings to mind 1 Corinthians where works are burned with the other trash because they were worldly works and not works for Christ. Jesus will ask one thing: what have you done for Me? He doesn't care about anything else you've done, how much money you have, all the accomplishments you've achieved. He only cares about what ......
