Your Moment of Greatness
143
A few years back I was a teenager, working at a fast food place, at closing time, looking into the mop bucket at my feet. In that moment, I was facing, not soapy water and an hour of monotonous drudgery. I was facing a moment of greatness. Or think of a mother, facing a pile of unfolded laundry. Or think of the duty that has fallen on your shoulders now to sit with a loved one who is shut-in, or hospitalized. Is that a mere duty you face? Or is it a moment of greatness?
Jesus calls His disciples to true greatness.
We see first a selfish request for greatness,
and in response Jesus explains and illustrates the guiding principle of greatness.
