Exhortation to Enduring Faith

The writer warned his readers concerning the ever-present danger of falling away from Jesus, yet he had strong confidence that they did indeed belong to Him and would continue with Him until the end. Thus he ended his exhortation by encouraging them to persevere in faith and faithfulness. Toward that end, they needed to consider afresh their journey thus far with their Lord. They had suffered and endured, not because they could do nothing to change it, but because they perceived their circumstances through the lens of God's purpose in joining them to His Messiah. They had endured in the confidence of the reward bound up in Him, and they needed to persevere in that faith.
