Mountain Top Experiences

Our Pastor Emeritus notes that mountain top experiences are not to be the norm of the Christian life, but are rather, intended to strengthen us for future cross-bearing. Some seem to suggest that we are to go from one euphoric mountain top to another, while others have no place whatsoever for any kind of reinforcing experience. In about 1758 James Meikle wrote that we must exercise care lest we "keep the frame (experience), and let Christ go."
