The Curse of Fake Knowledge
Series Jesus Through Luke's Eyes
Do you really know what you think you know? Fake knowledge is a dreadful deception in a religious society. False teaching doesn't have the power to deal with what's going on in your heart. It makes you feel better than you are, holier than you are, more humble than you are. Can you spot hypocrisy in yourself as well as you can spot it in others? Are we pretending to be concerned about the truth? Do we have all of the big theological words, but fail to spend time in devotion to God in private? Are we able to flatten strangers in evangelistic conversation, but faith to weep over their ruined state before God? Do we pretend to be further ahead in Christian growth than we actually are? You may be able to deceive everyone until you die, but the deception will be exposed when you see Jesus! But illogically, we fear what other people will think to such a degree that we will recklessly offend God. How many people are driven in many of their decisions by fear? This fear is only overcome by the fear of God. Be real for God, stand up with words at every opportunity, because this is what God has done for you. People who deny Jesus are those who are hard-hearted opponents of the Gospel. It completely matters that we acknowledge Christ, because our eternal state is at stake. In this world, we have God empowering us--glory lies ahead. Let us be on our guard against damning hypocrisy.
