Why Do the Wicked Prosper?

Why did God prosper Saul? What were the implications of Saul's command that kept the people from eating causing them to break the LORD's command that they shouldn't eat meat with the blood? Was it Saul's place to build an altar to the LORD? Why was the priest alarmed? Why was Saul willing to put his own son Jonathan to death? Why did the people rescue Jonathan? How does prosperity harden the wicked? Why did the LORD raise up the vicious heathens to punish Israel?
