I. Lack of Faithfulness Stipulated (6:4 – 8:14)
1. The Faithfulness of Morning Dew (6:4-6)
• “Hewn” – Carved or Shaped – The Lord Shaped the Nation through His Prophets (v. 6)
• Faithfulness of the People was Temporary (v. 4; Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23; Mark 7:6-8; Isaiah 29:13; Titus 1:16)
2. Faithlessness is Incurable (7:4-10)
• Baked in the Oven of the Heart (vs. 4-7)
• Devouring (vs. 8-9; Leviticus 20:24, 26; Psalm 106:35-36)
• Controlled by the Culture (v. 10)
3. The Treachery of Unfaithfulness (7:11-16)
• Fled from God, Spoke Lies Against Him (vs. 13-14)
• Devise Evil Against God (v. 15-16)
II. Sow the Wind; Reap a Whirlwind – the Consequence of Faithlessness (8:7-14)
• Sowing the Wind only Produces confusion, corruption, and condemnation (vs. 7-10)
• What is Built by the Wind of the Doctrines of Men will be torn Down & Destroyed (11-14)
Conclusion/Application
• What was True for Israel is True for Churches Today (1 Corinthians 6:9-10; Revelation Chapters 2-3; Romans 1:18ff)
• Faithfulness Does not Come Natural for Man – However, there is Good News
• The Holy Spirit Gives God’s Elect Faith
• Demonstrate that Gift of Faithfulness to the Lord Everyday (Colossians 3:16; Psalm 1:1-3; 1 Thessalonians 5:7; 1 John 3:16-18)
