The Necessity of Preaching

I. The Four-fold Chain of Gospel Preaching 14-17

A.  The Four-fold Chain Stated  v. 14-15a

    1.  They cannot call upon Christ unless they believe in Him.
    2.  They cannot believe in Christ without hearing about Him.
    3.  They cannot hear about Christ unless His message is preached to them.
    4.  There will be no gospel preachers, unless God sends them.

B.  The Four-fold Chain Applied  v.  15b-17

    4.  God sent heralds of salvation in the past
    3.  God continues to send heralds of salvation even to this day.
    2.   The majority of Jews remain in stubborn unbelief – just like they did in Isaiah's day.
    1.  The method God has chosen to use to save sinners is, the 	foolishness of preaching the Lord Jesus Christ.

C.  The Glory of Gospel Preaching

    2.  How it is today when the gospel is preached in truth?
    
    3.  How do we know a true gospel preacher?
        1)  A Gospel preacher represents the one who sent Him.
        2)  He preaches the message that has been given to him.
        3)  A Gospel preacher is recognized by the people of God in their local church as a Gospel preacher.
