Marks Of A Christian, Part III: Living By The Faith Of Christ

774

The true Christian life is not so much a believer's living for Christ as Christ living in the believer.

...Christians don't obey the Lord because if they don't they'll go to hell. They know that nothing they can do other than denying Christ will send them to hell. They do what the Lord wants because they want it, too. Thus, to quote Martin Luther, they love Him and do what they please, and what pleases them the most is to do the will of their Father in heaven.

...The lie that you have to obey God in order to earn your salvation is specifically condemned in the Bible.

...You see, the world has it backwards. Christians don't start with doing what God wants. That's the result of faith, not it's cause. Good works come after faith, not before. “As the apple is not the cause of the apple tree, but a fruit of it: even so good works are not the cause of our salvation, but a sign and a fruit of the same.” (Daniel Cawdray)
