A Family of Grace

60

What is the aroma of your home like? If someone were to observe a typical week of your interactions with your family, how would they characterize them?

It would be nice if love and kindness, selflessness and gratitude, came naturally to us. But they don't. We all tend to be self-centered, proud, critical, sarcastic, and self-righteous -- especially around the people we know the best. All too often, we just want what we want, and our family members are obstacles in the way.

We're just sinners living with other sinners in a broken world. And what God calls us to do as husbands and wives, parents and children, is impossible. Grace is an absolute necessity in an imperfect world. The only alternative is a destructive, miserable cycle of ungrace.

There is hope for even the most hopeless marriages and families because God's grace always works to change us. You can recognize your own need of grace, confess your inability, and trust God to fill your heart with various forms of grace that will transform the atmosphere of your home.
