Happy Are the Sad (The Beatitudes - Luke 6:21)

We think we'll be blessed and happy if we stay positive, but Jesus says happy are the sad. Happy are those who suffer in this life knowing they will have great rewards in the next life. Consider the lives of spiritual giants like George Mueller, Jim and Elisabeth Elliott, and the Prophet Jeremiah. Think about the great joy they had in the midst of their suffering. Dustin Kensrue concludes his song, "It is Finished", by saying, "Lift your head and weep no more." Rejoice in the midst of your suffering for blessed and happy are the sad.
