- Fellowship is our responsibility to challenge each other to holiness. V24a
a. Fellowship opens the door to know what each of us need. (Ps. 16:34; 40; 63)
b. Fellowship reveals how each of us are suffering injustice in the world. (Prov 29:7-11) c. Fellowship serves as the basis by which tangible needs are met. (Acts 11:29)
(i.) Thinking carefully about real needs is a matter of life, not a program.
(I Cor 16:2)
(ii.) thinking carefully about real needs is the work of grace in our own hearts.
(II Cor 8:2-7)
• Grace exceeds material prosperity.
• Generosity is not foolish extravagance.
• Generosity MUST be volitional.
• Generosity is the work of grace in the heart.
• This work of grace is brought about within the fellowship of believers.
(iii.) Thinking carefully about real needs is based upon the fair application of abundance. (II Cor 8:12-14)
(iv.) thinking carefully about real needs is not always a monetary transaction
(I Peter 4:9-11)
