Courage to Live
Series Psalms
55
Panic attacks. Absalom's coup, David's trouble. PRESENT TROUBLE (vv. 1-2): Addressed to the Lord. Many, many, many enemies gathered, rising up, taunting, "no help for him in God." Our enemies are real. PAST HELP (vv. 3-4): I have known the Lord's relationship to me and I have seen His mercies to me. I combat fear with the memory of these. INWARD PEACE (vv. 5-6): I sleep safely for the Lord keeps me. My heart is at rest when I am awake for the Lord keeps me. CONFIDENT HOPE (vv. 7-8): Knowing He will hear me, I cry out for deliverance. I know His saving power will also be exercised toward all His people.
