Complaining is sin – especially egregious sin. Complaining is unnecessary negative speech, and it is a rejection of God’s providence. It is caused by unbelief – failure to believe that God is in control of everything and only does good things. The solution is faith (believe Dt.32:4) and gratitude (emotional responsiveness to God’s love).
