Changed into Christ's Glory

We conclude our study of the Holy Ghost's Miraculous Work by noting the final end of His work: He changes us into the very image of Christ!

The Holy Ghost regenerates dead sinners, causes us to put our trust in God's Gospel promises, tells us the true things of Christ, indwells us, conveys to us the boundless love of Jesus for us, instills in us the Joy of Christ in our redemption, prays for us, and fills up our duty as sons to the Father.

These powerful works and more have the ultimate effect of transforming us into holy children of God, and stamp Christ's image upon us.

Peter declares that the Spirit sanctifies us both in our cleansing by Jesus' blood, and in perfecting obedience in us toward God. Indeed, there is a difference in the conduct of believers that grows further and further apart from their life before conversion.

As the Holy Ghost teaches and instructs us, we are led into righteousness and peace and other fruit of the Spirit. These are not works of the law, but rather the outworking of the Holy Ghost's power within us.

We ought to repudiate the law-works for righteousness and trust only in the Savior's obedience and blood, and as we do that, the Spirit transforms us into His image.

The character of Christ in us is the Glory of Christ revealed to us, and reflected by us. Paul exults in this: that we are transformed into Christ's image by the Holy Ghost showing us Christ's glory.

Stephen the Martyr shows us a stark, literal example, where the Holy Ghost gave him a vision of Christ in glory in Heaven. It caused Stephen to adopt so much of Christ's character as he was put to death for the faith.
