Ma. 10:10-12

The Matter of Marriage and Divorce (10-12)

9 And I say to you: whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery." 10 The disciples said to him, "If such is the case of a man with his wife, it is better not to marry." 11 But he said to them, "Not everyone can receive this saying, but only those to whom it is given. (Matt. 19:9-11)

Singleness is a Distinction (1 Cor. 7:1-2, 8-9, 27c,32-35; Matt. 19:10)

3 For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; 4 that each one of you know how to control his own body[b] in holiness and honor, 5 not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God; 6 …. as we told you beforehand and solemnly warned you. 7 For God has not called us for impurity, but in holiness. (1 Thess. 4:3-5, 6c-7).

Separation by Death (1 Cor. 7:39; Ro. 7:2-3)

Separation by Desertion (vv.10-16)

Separation by Depravity (Matt. 19:9)

The Bible's Lessons of Marriage and Divorce:

The meaning of marriage mirrors God and Christ's covenant relationship to his people.
Marriage is to be permanent- one man, one woman for one lifetime.
Separation (Divorce) of marriage is permitted for three reasons by God's mercy and grace:

Death
Desertion
Depravity
